PRODUCT DETAILS

This beautiful and elegant wakizashi is forged from smelted steel improved by Z-Sey themselves. The shinogi zukuri (curved blade with yokote and shinogi quite close to the mune) blade is clay tempered and Sashikomi A polished to reveal a notare (gentle waves) hamon.

As its name suggests, the nami (waves) koshirae (mountings) hints at how the maru gata (round) iron tsuba (guard), iron fuchi (hilt collar), and kashira (pommel cap) feature wave motifs throughout. The waskizashi also has a brass menuki (decorative ornament), cupronickel seppa (washer), and two piece brass core habaki (blade collar).

The handmade Haichi style tsuka (handle) is covered in normal emperor node white same (rayskin), held in place with blue ito (handle wrap). The wakizashi is sheathed in a black oil lacquered saya (scabbard) with horn koiguchi (mouth of saya), kurigata (knob for sageo), and kojiri (scabbard end cap). The cupronickel shitodome (mounting at kurigata opening) helps to prevent the blue sageo from fraying.
