Unokubi-Zukuri Katana 1095 Carbon Steel Sword Bamboo Sheath

This Katana sword, once widely used by legendary Japanese samurai warriors, features a samurai motif engraved across its fittings and mountings. It is made from 1095 high carbon steel and laminated in a maru (single steel) fashion. This steel is traditionally clay tempered to produce a harder edge, real hamon and water quenched to achieve ideal hardness.

This full tang, double-pegged Katana sword has been polished with a hazuya stone and showcases a unique unokubi-zukuri (blade shape) across its blade. This detail adds more impact when used for slashing. Furthermore, its two sets of bohi (grooves) produce a tachikaze (sound of a perfect swing). The handle is wooden, wrapped with rayskin and tight silk tsuka-maki. Meanwhile, the hardwood scabbard is covered with a traditional Japanese bamboo wrap. The sword's fittings are copper and brass, richly engraved with the samurai symbol representing bravery and loyalty.
