98 Type Gunto Katana Damascus Steel Sword Iron Saya

The Gunto saber, a sword made during the Meiji Restoration era (post-1868), served as a means for the emperor to modernize the military while preserving the rich samurai heritage. This Gunto sword is crafted from Damascus Steel and has been repeatedly folded to yield approximately 8192 visible and striking blade layers across its length.

The blade is both full tang and double-pegged for enhanced stability and is entirely hand-polished for a greater mirror-shine effect. Additionally, it is clay-tempered, providing it a harder edge and a genuine, real hamon line. The handle features rayskin wrap underneath a tight tsuka-maki cord, while the scabbard is fabricated from sturdy iron, wrapped in leather. All the fittings are made from quality iron and brass boasting a golden hue, and bear the symbols of the chrysanthemum flowers signifying nobility.

This sword is suitable for executing robust tameshigiri and safe Iaido if left unsharpened, while simultaneously narrating countless tales of the enlightened rule of Emperor Meiji.
