9260 Steel Katana Moroha-Zukuri

This highly affordable and beautiful piece from Shadow Dancer has a kissaki moroha zukuri blade forged from 9260 steel, oil quenched, and machine polished. This tsukurikomi (style and shape of the blade) was introduced in the Nara period and has a tip that is sharpened on both sides. Although the hamon is artificial, the blade has a bohi that reduces the sword's overall weight and improves its point of balance. The blade is secured to the hilt with one mekugi.

Despite its agreeable price point, the sword comes equipped with a beautiful alloy tsuba, fuchi, and kashira with ornate designs while the seppa and Habaki are made of brass. The Haichi style tsuka is covered in white genuine samegawa and wrapped in artificial silk ito. The blade is sheathed in an oil lacquered saya mounted with alloy shitodome that prevents the thickened sageo from fraying.
