9260 Steel Shobu Zukuri Katana

The shobu-zukuri is a type of Japanese katana blade profile that was preferred by samurai for heavy-duty cutting and thrusting, especially against armor. This is a replica of one such katana blade made to be very light and effective for tameshigiri (cutting practice). It is crafted from 9260 spring steel known for its durability and higher resistance to rust.

The two-handed hilt has a traditional tsuka (handle) wrapped with real samegawa (rayskin) and a very tight into (cord wrap) made of synthetic silk with or without hishigami. The fittings are of brass decorated with Japanese tree branches with a scabbard that's lacquered for a shiny reflection.
