Hanwei Tanto Blackened Iron Tiger

Hanwei's Tiger Tango is an alluring yet deadly looking piece with a blade hand forged from folded K120C powder steel, a highly homogenous material with evenly distributed carbon content. After differential treatment and clay tempering, it performs similarly to 1095 high carbon steel but has the added advantage of being more durable and with improved edge retention. This process also adds to the aesthetics of the dagger as it results in a striking midareba hamon and visible jihada. Featuring a short (ko)kissaki and bohi to reduce the overall weight of the tanto while improving its point of balance, it allows its wielder to perform quick and deadly strikes.

Equipped with high quality koshirae, the fuchi and kashira are made of blackened bronzed iron, selectively detailed in gold. Meanwhile, the habaki is a one piece brass construction. Covered in premium white same, the grip is sturdy and comfortable as the tight tsukamaki uses the finest black woven Japanese cotton.

The blade is sheathed in a deeply lacquered black saya with inlaid brass bamboo leaves. Like the other koshirae for the tanto, the koiguchi, kojiri, and kurigata are also made of blackened bronzed iron. To complete the overall design, the black sageo uses first rate black woven Japanese cotton.
