Hanwei Katana Blackened Iron Tsuba Frog

Hanwei's Kaeru Katana is a piece that showcases the beauty of Japanese swords. Featuring a full tang blade with a medium length (chi) kissaki forged from K120C steel, the highly homogenous and even distribution of carbon content combined with the differential hardening and clay tempering process results in a beautiful jihada and midareba hamon. This also gives the blade excellent edge retention and durability.

Aptly named, the Kaku maru gata (square with rounded corners) stainless steel tsuba patina'd like blackened iron features a gold detailed frog (kaeru) on a lily pad. This theme also carries over the the black fuchi and kashira with brass detailing. Other premium fittings on this katana include the one piece brass habaki, and a gold colored menuki with a fish design. The tsuka is then inlaid with premium white same held in place with premium dark blue Japanese cotton tsuka ito.

This elegant katana comes sheathed in a deeply lacquered black saya with the kojiri, koiguchi, and kurigata made of polished buffalo horn. The overall design of this sword is completed with the hand woven dark blue and moss green silk sageo.
