Hanwei Katana Golden Oriole Blue Lacquered

The Golden Oriole Katana by Hanwei is an exquisite piece with a full tang blade forged from T10 tool steel and clay tempered to feature a beautiful midareba hamon. The main characteristic of this sword is the intricate maru gata (round) tsuba, fuchi, and kashira that features a mantis stalking a cricket, unaware that it is being stalked by a Golden Oriole itself.

The blade is then secured to a wooden tsuka covered with white samegawa and the tsukamaki uses Japanese blue cotton ito. The overall design is then completed with a deep blue lacquered saya and black sageo. A protective cloth bag and traditional maintenance kit is also supplied.
