Shirasaya Katana 1095 Carbon Steel Sword Folded

The shirasaya is known for its minimalist design closely tied to Japan's culture and heritage. Serving as a symbol of both ingenuity and elegance, it is believed to have originated from a time when the possession of swords were restricted in feudal Japan. Translated to "white scabbard", the term shirasaya refers not to the color of the scabbard, but its simple design.

This shirasaya katana is forged from folded steel, differentially hardened, clay tempered, and Hazuya polished using an Uchigumori stone fixed with paper to bring out the folded grain (hada) and hamon (temper line). Due to its shirasaya design, this katana has no fittings or even tsuka-ito (handle wrap). To complete its elegant design, the tsuka (handle) and saya (scabbard) is varnished and features buffalo horn parts.
