Handmade Moroha Zukuri Katana-High Carbon Steel

This handmade katana from Shadow Dancer has a moroha zukuri blade, a type of blade first seen on tanto from the mid-Muromachi period. The blade on this katana is forged from high carbon steel, oil quenched, and hand polished. Secured to the handle with one mekugi, this blade features an artificial hamon and bohi that decreases the overall weight of the sword while improving its point of balance.

It is equipped with an iron tsuba along with brass fuchi and kashira that has ornate designs. It also has brass menuki, copper seppa, and brass habaki. The Haichi style tsuka is inlaid with black genuine samegawa and wrapped with artificial silk ito. The overall design of the katana is then completed by the oil lacquered saya mounted with a brass shitodome that prevents the thick sageo from fraying.
