Hanwei Wakizashi HWS-2S Steel Bamboo Mat

This Bamboo Mat Wakizashi by Hanwei is an elegant piece with a blade forged from HWS-2S Steel, a proprietary blend of steel exclusive to Hanwei. Made in their new factory using high tech equipment, the material is favored for its toughness, resilience, excellent edge retention, and resistance to abrasion. Due to the differential treatment and clay tempering process, this blade with a chu-kissaki has a beautiful midareba hamon that looks as if there are flames licking the blade.

The wakizashi is equipped with quality fittings including a bamboo themed black iron tsuba that has a bamboo mat texture design, jointed bamboo rim, and bamboo leaves that are gold tipped. This theme is also seen in the fuchi and kashira while the gold colored menuki displays a pair of sparrows. The tsuka is covered in white are and tightly wrapped with black tsuka ito. The wakizashi comes sheathed in a high gloss black lacquered saya with horn fittings.
