High-Quality Stone Koshirae Katana

Z-Sey's High Quality Stone Koshirae Katana has a shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to mune) blade forged from crucible steel, differentially hardened, clay tempered, and Sashikomi grade A polished to reveal a beautiful notare (undulating / wavy) hamon (temper line). The heat treatment process ensures that the blade has a hard edge that retains its sharpness while its spine remain flexible to absorb impact and reduce the likelihood of breaking. The blade features a bo-bi, a straight groove with notable width to lighten the overall weight of the sword and improving its point of balance.

Featuring a maru gata (round) iron tsuba (guard); brass fuchi (hilt collar), kashira (pommel cap), and menuki (decorative ornament); along with red copper seppa (washer) and Yujo style habaki (blade collar), the overall design of the sword is complemented by its handmade Haichi style tsuka (handle) wrapped in white normal emperor node same (rayskin). This is then held in place using brown silk ito (handle wrap) from Japan.

This distinguished piece comes sheathed in black oil lacquered saya (scabbard) fitted with horn koiguchi (mouth of saya), kurigata (knob for sageo), and kojiri (scabbard end cap). The brass shitodome mounted on the opening of the kurigata prevents the brown silk sageo from Japan from fraying. An option of a handmade saya is also available, but a minimum of an additional two months will be required for its production.
