Hira Nami Koshirae Katana (Hand-made Tsuba)

Shadow Dancer's Hira Nami Koshirae Katana is a distinguished looking piece with a shinogi zukuri (curved blade with shinogi and yokote close to mune) blade forged from upgraded folded steel, heat treated, clay tempered and Sashikomi polished to reveal the beautiful jihada and suguha (straight) hamon.

As its name implies, this katana has a hand carved iron tsuba with hira nami (gentle waves). Tying into its design are the cupronickel fuchi and kashira with the same motifs. The other koshirae include the copper seppa, and copper hand carved Yasurime style habaki. The blade is secured to the Haichi style tsuka with a mekugi. The handle is then covered with white samegawa held in place with blue silk ito from Japan.

The blade is then sheathed in a glossy wine colored saya fitted with horn koiguchi, kurigata, and kojiri. The opening of the kurigata is mounted with a cupronickel shitodome to prevent the artificial silk sageo from Japan from fraying.
