Shirasaya Katana T10 Steel Sword Hira Zakuri

As its name suggests, this hira zukuri katana has a flat blade that has no shinogi (ridge) or yokote (line separating the blade tip from the rest of the blade). Made with either T10 or folded steel, the suguha (relatively straight) hamon becomes visible after it is cosmetically polished, ready for tameshigiri.

As a shirasaya, this katana has a featureless and clean design, meaning that it has a simple wooden mount without any decorations. The scabbard is made from hackberry wood finished with glossy lacquer. Complementing the tsuka (handle) are koiguchi (mouth of the scabbard), kurigata (knob to attach a cord), and kojiri (scabbard end cap) made from black buffalo horn.
