Hitatsura Katana

This Hitatsura Katana is forged from smelted steel that has been improved by Z-Sey's team themselves. The shinogi zukuri (curved blade with yokote and ridge close to mune) blade is heat treated, clay tempered, and Kesho (cosmetic) polished to reveal a beautiful temper line. As its name suggests, this katana has a hitatsura (fully tempered blade with tobiyaki (hardening spots) along the body and spine of the blade) hamon that is exquisite.

To complement the look of the blade, the katana is fitted with an iron maru gata (round) tsuba (guard); blackened brass fuchi (hilt collar), kashira (pommel cap), menuki (decorative ornament); and copper seppa (washer) and habaki (blade collar). The handmade Haichi style tsuka (handle) is covered with white normal emperor node same (rayskin) held in place with cowhide ito (handle wrap) from Japan.

This katana also comes with a black oil lacquered saya fitted with horn koiguchi (mouth of scabbard), kurigata (knob for sageo), and kojiri (scabbard end cap). The shitodome mounted on the opening of the kurigata prevents fraying of the green silk sageo (carrying cord) from Japan.
