Hanwei Wakizashi Japanese Dogwood Motif Practical

This Practical Plus Wakizashi is part of Hanwei's Practical Plus Series, making it a matching piece alongside the Practical Plus Katana (SH2073) and Tanto (SH2259). Forged from 1566 steel, this material that contains substantial manganese results in a blade that has quite a uniformed hardened microstructure after differential heat treatment and clay tempering. This produces a blade that is tough, has excellent edge retention, and features an elegant suguha hamon.

Like its other peers, this wakizashi is equipped with high quality fittings such as the blackened iron kikka gata (chrysanthemum shaped) tsuba with a "sunburst" design, fuchi and kashira with Japanese Dogwood motif, and a brass habaki. Meanwhile the tsuka is covered with genuine white same and tightly wrapped with black tsuka ito to give it a secure and comfortable grip. The overall design is then completed with a black lacquered saya with black sageo.
