Jian Folded Pattern Copper Guard

This is the "Yue Wang Jian," a double-edged straight sword. Its name refers to the bladed-edged weapons used during the Spring and Autumn Period (770 - 481 BCE), specifically the Yue Wang Goujian sword, which now serves as the primary model for early Chinese Jian blades. This particular model is made from Damascus Steel, which has been folded multiple times and boasts over 8000 visible blade layers.

The blade is traditional and unique with an 8-sided edge. It has been differentially heat-treated, oil quenched, and hand-polished resulting in a mirror-like shine. The handle and scabbard are made of quality ebony wood, which contrasts with the bright, golden-colored copper fittings. The sword comes with a safety storage bag and can be sharpened or unsharpened, making it suitable for tameshigiri cutting tests or as home decor.
