Nagamaki/Katana L6 Steel Clay Temper

The Nagamaki is a lesser-known Japanese long sword with a handle that is usually as long as the blade itself, allowing for an extended grip and providing more balance. This is a Japanese Katana with a Nagamaki-like hilt and blade profile known as nagamaki-zukuri. Today, historical nagamaki are rare as many were shortened to become a katana or wakizashi.

The steel for this Katana Nagamaki is the modern high-tech L6 tool steel. The blade is then heat treated, clay tempered, and hand polished to reveal a beautiful midare hamon. There is also a bohi on the blade that helps to reduce the overall weight of the sword while improving its point of balance.

The Nagamaki comes equipped with mokko gata (lobed shape) tsuba, fuchi, kashira, and menuki made of brass and features ornate flowers and leaves. The seppa and Habaki are made of copper.
