This Raptor Wakizashi is part of Hanwei's Raptor Series, a matching piece alongside the Raptor Katana and Raptor Tanto. Forged from 5160 spring steel, this material containing chromium, silicon, and manganese are highly favored by expert swordsmiths as it results in a blade that is incredibly resilient, flexible, and holds its edge extremely well. For this reason, it is often seen in performance cutting swords. Made in the blade style of James Williams' personal Nami Ryu style, this wakizashi helps the martial artist or practitioner to perfect their techniques while doubling as an impressive display piece.
Like its peers, this Raptor wakizashi is equipped with a maru gata (round) tsuba depicting a raptor, a theme that carries over to the fuchi, kashira, and even gold colored menuki that features bird feathers. Meanwhile, the tsuka is inlaid with white same held in place with black tsuka ito. The tight tsukamaki ensures a secure and comfortable grip for the sword's wielder. In line with the design, this wakizashi comes sheathed in a black lacquered saya with black sageo.
