Hanwei Mortuary Sword Oliver Cromwell

This Cromwell Sword by Hanwei is inspired by OliverCromwell, an English statesman, soldier, and politician known for his advocacy for the execution of Charles I, resulting in the establishment of The Protectorate where he ruled as Lord Protector.

One of the most important figures in British Isles' history, Cromwell fame is controversial due to his use of the army to acquire political power along with his brutality in the 1649 campaign in Ireland. It was during this campaign at the Siege of Drogheda where his troops killed almost 3,500 people. It was during this battle that he was purported to carry a sword known as a mortuary sword which is currently showcased in the Royal Armouries collection in Leeds, England.

Staying through to the design, Hanwei's Cromwell Sword is an accurate replica with a blade forged from 1566 high carbon steel secured to a "mortuary" hilt. This sword features a blackened guard with gold foliage motifs and a wire-wound sharkskin grip. While the authentic Cromwell Sword lacks a scabbard, Hanwei's replica comes with one with a design typical of the period.
