Hanwei Katana Practical XL Heavy Target

Hanwei's Practical XL Katana is part of the Performance Series, designed to focus on value and function for the martial arts community. This specific sword is made to offer maximum cutting capacity on heavy targets. Forged from 1566 high carbon steel, differentially hardened, and clay tempered, this blade has approximately a spine hardness of HRC40 and edge hardness of HRC60.

Due to the heat treatment process, a beautiful hamon is seen on the blade secured to a tsuka covered with white same. The inlay is then wrapped in black imitation leather tsuka ito to provide a sturdy grip required in tameshigiri. As expected of the design, the fittings of this katana including the tsuba, fuchi, kashira, seppa, and habaki are plain, but made with high quality materials. This katana also comes with a black lacquered saya with black sageo.
