Roiyaru Katana Limited (Sanmai)

Thaitsuki's Ivory Limited Edition of the Roiyaru Sanmai Katana is an elegant and timeless piece. Featuring a hand forged unokubi zukuri (cormorant's neck) blade with a triple steel structure, the blade's body is made from folded 1060 high carbon steel (1024 layers) while the edge uses the harder 1095 high carbon steel.

Clay tempered and water quenched, the blade has a hardness of 35 HRC for the body and 60 HRC for the edge. Besides the distinctive notare hamon, this differential hardening process results in a blade with a flexible body and excellent edge retention. The blade also features a bohi that decreases the overall weight of the sword, improves its point of balance, and amplifies the tachikaze.

This katana comes equipped with a mokko gata (lobed shape) tsuba, and other high quality fittings with flower motif such as the brass fuchi and kashira, along with silver seppa, habaki, and menuki. The blades tang is secured to the rikko (hourglass) tsuka with two mekugi. The wooden handle is then covered with genuine black same held in place with tight hinerimaki using ivory Japanese silk Tsuka Ito. The katana comes sheathed a glossy ivory saya fitted with silver kurigata, koiguchi, and sayajiri with flower inlays, matching the hana motif in the other sword mountings. The scabbard also comes with a matching silk sageo.
