Sashikomi Polishing Ko-Choji Katana

Shadow Dancer's Sashikomi Polished Ko-Choji Katana combines both tradition and modern techniques. Featuring a shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) blade forged from crucible steel, clay tempered, and Sashikomi polished to reveal a unique ko-choji (resembling small clove buds) hamon. The blade is secured to the hilt with a mekugi.

This Katana is equipped with an iron tsuba with wave motifs; cupronickel fuchi, kashira, and menuki; silver brass seppa; and copper habaki. The Haichi style tsuka is inlaid with black genuine samegawa and wrapped with Japanese imported silk in tsumami maki style, where both strands of the ito are pinched at the crossover. This gives the sword a beautiful and sturdy grip.

The blade is then sheathed in a saya finished with high quality piano paint. It features a cupronickel shitodome that prevents the thick sageo from fraying.
