Crucible Steel Gunome Style Sashikomi Katana

This katana from Shadow Dancer is a visually striking piece due to its scabbard that contrasts with its handle. Featuring a shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) blade forged from crucible steel, differentially hardened, clay tempered, and Sashikomi polished to reveal a gunome (waves) hamon. The blade is then secured to the tsuka with one mekugi.

It is equipped with an iron Kaku maru gata (square with rounded corners) tsuba; brass fuchi, kashira, menuki; and cupronickel seppa and habaki. The Haichi style tsuka is covered in white genuine samegawa and wrapped with artificial silk ito. The katana comes sheathed in an oil lacquered saya mounted with a brass shitodome that prevents the thick sageo from fraying.
