Tanto daggers, smaller knives carried by the samurai, were used for safety precautions or ceremonial purposes. This Tanto, in a secretive shira-saya format, lacks a handguard but can easily be concealed inside its scabbard while tucked into a kimono - traditional Japanese attire. It's crafted from Damascus Steel, folded 13 times with over 8192 visible blade layers spanning its length.

The full tang blade features a bohi (groove) to reduce weight while producing a tachikaze (the sound of a perfect swing) when cutting. It's been specially treated to possess a strong red color. The handle and scabbard, both hardwood, are lacquered for a glossy effect, and the fittings are brass. This affordable Tanto is the ideal beginner piece for a tantojutsu practitioner.
